Eyes on the Prize is an American television series and 14-part documentary about the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.
Created and executive-produced by Henry Hampton at the film production company Blackside and narrated by Julian Bond.
The series uses archival footage, stills and interviews of participants and opponents of the movement.
The title of the series is derived from the folk song "Keep Your Eyes on the Prize," which is used in each episode as the opening theme music.
Important to note:
SNCC: The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) was founded in April 1960, by young people who had emerged as leaders of the sit-in protest movement initiated on February 1 of that year by four black college students in Greensboro, North Carolina.
SCLC: Although Martin Luther King, Jr. and others had hoped that SNCC would serve as the youth wing of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), the students remained fiercely independent of King and SCLC, generating their own projects and strategies. Although ideological differences eventually caused SNCC and SCLC to be at odds, the two organizations worked side by side throughout the early years of the civil rights movement.
CORE: Founded in 1942, CORE is the third oldest and one of the "Big Four" civil rights groups in the United States. From the protests against "Jim Crow" laws of the 40's through the "Sit-ins" of the 50's, the "Freedom Rides" of the 60's, the cries for "Self-Determination" in the 70's, "Equal Opportunity" in the 80's, community development in the 90's, to the current demand for equal access to information,

Fourteen-year-old Emmett Till was visiting relatives in Money, Mississippi, on August 24, 1955, when he was accused of whistling at Carolyn Bryant, a white woman who was a cashier at a grocery store.
Four days later, Bryant's husband Roy and his half brother J.W.
Milam kidnapped Till, beat him and shot him in the head
In the essay Prison Studies written by Malcolm x is about the time he spent in prison enabled him to educate himself enough to make the impression that he went to school.
Which ended up changed his life around, he started off by talking about what had sparked his interest to began reading and writing in the first place.
It was a fellow inmate by the name of bimbi which he envied his way to take control of any conversation.
After that incident is when he picked up and tried to read his first book but fail to understand what is about.

Carolyn Bryant of the Emmett Till murder case has spoken out for the first time, more than 60 years later, admitting that her story about Emmett is false, a new book claims.
